Monday
I have a boyfriend named Ken and for some reason this week i spotted two I (heart) Ken images and felt compelled to photograph them. the first one i got my boyfriend to take with me beside it which is terribly dorky, and the second was at the greyhound station right before leaving and also right before the bad leg room picture was taken. You can't see it very well but that girls keychain says I (heart) Ken.
I saw this Tim Hortons cup on the floor in a mall. I work at a restaurant that uses biodegradable take-out containers and plastic bags. It bugs me that a small business can afford to convert to biodegradable disposable containers but Tim Hortons can't. I used to work at Tim Horton's when I was in high school and we would get a lot of complaints about not having recycling in or around the restaurant.
these cups make me so mad, such irresponsible design.
hot dog garbage?
I am not sure where this garbage can came from but it was in an alleyway behind a restaurant. I thought it was interesting.. I understand that it is not where it belongs. I would think it came from one of those hot dog carts and the "hot dog garbage" spray painted onto it symbolizes that the garbage can belongs to the hot dog vendor. Outside of its natural habitat however the hot dog garbage looks funny.
I took the greyhound this weekend. I noticed that the leg room in the greyhounds has become less and less over the past few years. Every time they build new buses they have less leg room. My legs fell asleep after 20 minutes. It was horrible. I always want to email greyhound about this but i never do. I am not even that tall. at 5'11 there are plenty of people out there much taller than i am. Don't they have problems with these seats?
I was playing backgammon the other day and decided to have snacks with it. I like the design of these stackable yellow bowls. they all fit into one another for super easy storage and are appropriate sizes for snack foods. I like to portion out my food this way. The bowls also have measurements on them in ml and cups.
These are spice containers that stick on the fridge with magnets. I always forget these are here and search the cupboards for spices. I thought they were a good idea when i bought them but find that they aren't really in the place where i would look for spices and I have really bad memory so i forget they are there.
This is a large soup mug. I have a whole set of these. They have specific kinds of soup labels on them. This one is mushroom. When having soup i sometimes feel uncomfortable if i don't have the correct type of soup in the mug. I do like the design of the mug though. The mug is also nice to hold onto when it has hot soup in it since it has the handle to keep my hands away from the hot bowl portion of the mug
This creamer is in the shape of a cow. I thought it was interesting that the creamer is in the shape of a cow and you pour cream or milk out of it. I also found it gross however that the milk comes out of its mouth. When pouring milk out of it it looks like the cow is throwing up in my coffee or tea.
cute on the shelf..... not cute in action.
I love playing backgammon. I find that when playing games i tend to go for the non-white pieces. I think that a lot of people are probably like this. When playing a game you scramble to get the colour of piece that you want or when playing checkers, chess or backgammon you are automatically drawn to a certain set of pieces. In this game i was red. I am always red in this game. on my other board i am always blue. I am never white.
After feeding ducks i ended up going to a restaurant downtown. lately I have been interested in public washrooms, mostly at restaurants. They give directly reflect the size of the restaurant. Each public washroom at an independent restaurant will be completely different. Public washrooms are not uniform at all. When going into one you can expect a number of possibilities with everything. This washroom had doors that swing out and one of those "Xlerator" hand dryers that blows your skin around and knocks the water off of your hands very fast. I intended to get more shots of bathrooms for this project but found it difficult to take pictures in public washrooms as I didn't want to be taking pictures in washrooms with people in them.
Public washrooms may pose problems for people; doors that swing in often make it difficult to get into the stall itself. straddling the actual toilet is sometimes the only option.
Reaching for the toilet paper is also sometimes a problem. sometimes it is so low that you have to reach around yourself at an awkward angle.
